Bartang valley

Bartang is a valley in the Rushon district of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Oblast (GBAO). The name of Bartang is taken from the river which takes source from the lake Sarez. The another river which flows to Bartang river is the Kudara river which joins 18 km down the valley from Sarez Lake. The Bartang valley is 128 km long and it flows to Panj river in Rushon district.
The valley is also called Bartang. Bartang valley is the most interesting part of the Pamirs for trekking. In the top of the valley, there is situated the Lake Sarez, which appeared by an earthquake, estimated at 7.4 on the Richter magnitude scale, on February 18, 1911.
There many other lakes in Bartang valley, Chapdarkul Lake, Uchkul lake and Zarojkul which have very interesting sights.
